zoo trip and storms

As I sure most people know storms are a huge fear of mine, so as you can imagine I have not enjoyed the last week. We have enjoyed the few dry days we have had any between all the rain. Last weekend we spent all weekend outside. Saturday, Brandon, Gwen and I went to the Topeka zoo. It is Gwen's second trip but first one since she has been walking and talking. She loved it!! It was so fun. After the zoo we went to ride the train but were 5 minutes to late so we just played at the park for awhile.

After the zoo, we went to dinner and then headed home, that is when the day went bad. We got caught in the storm trying to go home. We pulled over under a gas station canopy because the hail was so large and then we were right in the path of a possible tornado. We saw the rotation of the clouds and a hook keeping coming down but luckily God was watching out for us and we made it home safe. Then Saturday night, not long after Gwen went to bed the sirens went off in Baldwin but there wasn't to much damage and we were all safe again. Sunday, the three of us went for a bike ride, we have a little trailer/seat/ stroller thing that you pull behind a bike for Gwen, she has the cutest little helmet. Then she played in her water table.

Tuesday was the last day for students! I still am doing some works to the libraries at the two school that they are closing but summer has started!

Last Week

This is my last full week of students and then a day and half next week. Though I don't have students during the summer I have a feeling I will be working a lot. Two elementary school in our district are closing after this year, so their books will be moved into mine and the other elementary school library. That means I will be helping weed out, bar-code, pack, move and then unpack about 5,000 books this summer, yikes!! Luckily, we will be spreading this out for 8 weeks so I can spend lots of time with Gwendalyn.

I'm so ready for summer, I can't wait for warm weather and to play with Gwen all day. After this cold weekend, I can't wait for those 90 degree days. Since it was so cold and yucky all weekend, we did nothing. It was kind of nice to just sit around and relax with Brandon and Gwen, but I'm ready to play outside and do fun activities.

Spring

My goal, now that I have 2 weeks left of school, is to blog A LOT more.  Another reason is because Gwen is growing so fast. People always told me cherish your time because it goes by fast, I never truly understood until I became a mom.

We had a wonderful Easter. Saturday, we stopped by the fire station to see Grandpa Mike and then we spend the day at Grandma Tina's and had lunch and the girls (Gwen and her cousin Cholee) had an Easter egg hunt. We had a great time. Sunday we went to church and then Gwen took a nap, when she woke up the Easter bunny had came.

Grand-Grandpa Steve

Anyone who knows me and my family know we LOVE summer and hot weather, so the last few days have been heavenly. Gwen loves the outdoors so we play outside a lot.

The past weekend was busy. Saturday we went to Topeka for a friend's birthday and then went to Grandpa Mike's where we did some fishing. And then we ran over to Dover to see Brandon's grandparents. Sunday was  Mother's Day and the three of us spend all day together playing outside, my idea of a perfect day.

And lastly, my sister Alli is having a baby and is due June 7 but after the last couple of doctor's appointments I think he will be making an appearance any time now. I'm beyond excited and can't wait to meet him.
